For this particular project, I wanted to incorporate the old with the new. The overall look of the piece was meant to look aged. I included my graphic design skills to create a front page newspaper of The Ocala Banner as it was in 1931. The information I gathered through the internet, photos including through pinterest. Then I recreated the ads from the Banner from a 1931 issue. The base of the canvas was decoupaged with old sewing pattern tissue, the next layer above that is very old newsprint paper I collected from thrift stores. and then I hand dyed each piece of paper using diluted coffee to give it an aged look. and then I printed my designs on the dyed paper. It covers pretty much of the arts and community in Ocala, from museums, galleries, entertainment, horse venues and theater venues including the Brick.
