Linda DeRosa

I was born and raised in New York, and recently a resident of Florida. As a child my father, who was a creative person, influenced my interest in art. I learned through a mixture of formal education and self teaching. My work has been shown from Queens to Long Island, and now Florida. I have won numerous awards from National Art League, Douglaston, N.Y.,Floral Park Art League, Port Washington Art League. One of my purchased works was autographed by Derek Jeter, 2 others became book covers. Presently I am a member of NAL, Ocala Art Group,  MCA, Florida WCS and Citrus Watercolor Society. I also had an opportunity to study under famous Watercolor Artist, Alvaro Castagnet for a week in Upstate New York. Present day favorites are Alvaro Castagnet, Joseph Zbukvic and Mary Whyte.

Statement

Part of my process is photography. I take photos everywhere I visit.   I love to explore the hues and color relationships of watercolor/acrylic/collage.  In my creative process, many decisions are manipulated based on the mood and emotions I seek to capture.  Making artwork everyday is vital to my creative process. Within each painting, I aim to offer "keyhole" looks into various scenes to transport my viewer to far-off places to activate their memories.  My works strikes fascination by viewers who connect the atmosphere of a particular painting to a personal  memory.
